It is one of the most important herb of Ayurveda (the traditional system of medicine in India) used for millennia as a Rasayana for its wide ranging health benefits. Rasayana is described as an herbal or metallic preparation that promotes a youthful state of physical and mental health and expands happiness. These types of remedies are given to small children as tonics, and are also taken by the middle-aged and elderly to increase longevity.
Sandalwood – one of the most important herbs in ayurvedic medicine. When it comes to sleep, it is popularly known to relieve prickly heat. It helps to stop excessive sweating and relieves inflamed skin.
Vetiver - Vetiver is famous all over the Indian Subcontinent. People may not understand it since many of them are unfamiliar with this name. Instead, it is popularly known “Khus” or “Khus-Khus” and it is extensively used in perfumes, food and beverage industries.
The botanical name of vetiver is Vetiveria Zizanoides or Andropogon Muricatus. This grass has a very pleasant, mild, earthy, and musky smell which has a cooling effect on the body and the mind. The dried grass and its roots are used to thatch the side panels of the water based room and window coolers since it cools and adds fragrance to the moist air.
It is also used to thatch roofs of earthen houses and mattresses. It is also used as curtains on the doors and windows, which, apart from cooling and scenting the rooms, keeps insects away. That is why its demand rises excessively during the summer, particularly in humid regions like India and neighboring countries. In India vetiver is also called 'The Oil of Tranquility'.
Shatavari - helps to build ojas, the precious fluid in the body that governs vitality, virility, immunity and sleep. It is also especially useful in nourishing and calming the nerves, nourishing the brain and helping to support the brain and the body in regaining balance from vata disorders like spasms, pain, and insomnia.
