Maker's Note

People love our Vital Ink tattoo balm and gradually more and more tattoo artists and people started using it. Dean Sacred of Sacred Tattoo in Auckland was one of those people but then he asked me if I could make something vegan and that would be really good for using on the skin as it is tattooed, as well as for premium aftercare.

This product went through months of development as I wanted to optimise the healing qualities of the balm and get the texture right. A game of checks and balances!

The characteristics of some of the ingredients, including the beautiful unrefined organic shea butter we use, means that the balm responds to temperature variations and may sometimes feel a little grainy – don’t worry, this is just nature doing its thing. As soon as it comes in contact with your skin it will smooth and melt.

A little bit of this balm goes a long way. For aftercare - it is the business, really nourishing and soothing and supports the body as it heals. Tattoo artists can also with confidence over stencils as they tattoo.

The lovely Glen at Sovreign Tattoo in Napier also started using it on his psoriasis and now sells it to customers to help with that as well!
