Did you know that Nettle (Urtica dioica or Urtica urens) is a superb spring tonic herb? Yes folks, there is so much more to it than its nasty sting.
Nettle is one of our favorite plants, it's bursting with minerals and vitamins and works with our body in so many positive ways. All those minerals and vitamins make it particularly good for women who are menstruating and as an ally as we age. They are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
- Rich in minerals and vitamins: A, B2, C, E, K, calcium, magnesium, potassium, silicic acid, iron, selenium, zinc, manganese & copper
- Nourishes and supports adrenals
- Great for bladder
- Rehydrates dry vaginal tissues
- Eases sore joints
- Good for skeletal system
- Reduces fatigue
- Stabilises blood sugars
- Supports immune system
- Nourishes and strengthens nervous system
To make your nettle infusion place a heaped spoon of nettle in a teapot and add almost boiling water. Cover - sealed it really well so all those healing volatile oils don't escape with the steam. Allow to brew for at least 5-10 minutes. We make a big pot and then drink it throughout the day - it gets stronger and stronger as the day goes on but that is a good thing!
Nettle is also a specific herb for easing hot, irritated skin conditions - a classic case of 'like cures like' and this is why we infuse it into our Calendula & Gotu Kola Skin Repair Cream.
