The Archeus garden is blooming. Two of the flowers in this picture are used in Archeus products. In the foreground is lavender which we use as a hydrosol and as an essential oil. Lavender has numerous qualities: it is antiseptic and antibacterial, it stimulates blood flow, is an antioxidant and antidepressant. It is well known for its soothing and calming effect and the essential oil is an invaluable first aid remedy. It helps heal burns, wounds and sores and has been popular as a medicine since the middle ages.
You can also see the glorious orange flowers of the calendula plant. Calendula is one of the most well known and versatile herbs in Western herbal medicine. The bright orange petals are an excellent remedy for red and inflamed skin, their antiseptic and healing properties help prevent the spread of infection and speed up the rate of skin repair. It is used for cuts, scrapes and wounds; for red and inflamed skin, including minor burns and sunburn. Later this summer we will harvest the flowers, pack them into glass jars and cover them with Sweet Almond oil, or Camellia oil, so that they infuse the oil with their wonderful healing properties.
