We owe our name to the 16th Century physician and alchemist Paracelsus, who coined the term ‘Archeus’ [Ah-kee-us] for the vital life force that resides in us, Nature and the universe. He said that to heal and to do alchemy one had to work with this force, this Archeus. We love that!

Growing up in the countryside in first in the Cotswolds in England and then in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, seeded my lifelong passion for botanic wisdom, healing and nature. As an only child it was nature that I turned to for help. I have always felt a very deep connection with the natural world and the healing it provides.

What followed was an international career that traversed the arts, media, corporate sector and conservation. But where ever possible I tried to bring my love of nature into my working world.

Career highlights include:

-  Running a cultural communications agency in London. We specialised in arts promotion. We ran the communications for a range of major cultural events across the UK. We worked with most of the major cultural institutions in the UK including the Southbank Centre, Barbican, British Museum, English National Opera; as well as for individual artists including Compay Segundo, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Michael Nyman.

-  Contracted to manage communications for the Arts Council England Decibel programme to raise cultural diversity in the arts in England.

-  In 2005 I was on the advisory panel to the BBC, British Museum, Southbank Centre for the Africa 2005 event lead by Prof Gus Casely Hayford.

-  From 2003 – 2013 After initially working on communications for the prize, I then participated for a number of years as a judge for the prestigious St Andrews Prize for the Environment.

-  Working as  Corporate Engagement Manager and acting chief executive of the Kew Foundation for the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. These gardens aren’t just a beautiful place to visit, they are a treasure trove of over 350 years of plant data and history, a research and conservation facility and a great communicator for our natural world.

-  In 2008 I was invited to take on the role of communications manager for the influential TEEB study into The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (basically making an economic case for the conservation of nature). This role was with the United Nations Environment Programme, located in Bonn, Germany.

-  On my return to NZ in 2011 I continued to work for the UN for another 12 months, did some consultancy work for the Sustainable Business Council and Climate Change work in Ethiopia for the German Government.

Meanwhile over the years I have kept my private passions fuelled by taking studies in environmental science, massage therapy, herbalism, aromatherapy and naturopathy. I am also a Reiki master and I bring this energy work into everything I create at Archeus. 

I feel that all of this knowledge and experience has combined to feed into my work at Archeus. I love to use the communications and story telling skills to give a voice to the healing attributes of Nature. My work at Kew and the UN has given me extraordinary insights into the environmental issues we face today, and ways in we we can work to reduce them. 

My knowledge of plants' therapeutic, energetic and spiritual properties is the result of a long intimate and aware bond with Nature. As a child it was Nature I turned to for healing and as a a woman stepping into her power, it is Nature I return to for strength and nurture.

We do. We develop our formulas and make all our products in small batches in our apothecary.

No. We do not use any synthetic nasties or synthetic fragrances.

Absolutely not! We test on ourselves.

We spend a lot of time planning out and prepping for an amazing event and pre-source quality materials for each student before each workshop. In the case of private workshops, we also have to arrange for personnel to take over working in the busy production studio, while Georgina prepares for and leads the workshop.

For scheduled workshops, Archeus will refund 100% of your class fee, or re-book you to another class if done a minimum of three days before the workshop. Cancellations within three days of the workshop cannot be refunded. You are always welcome to gift your class to a friend if you cannot make it, but please advise us of any changes.

Private and offsite workshops require a $200 non-refundable deposit to secure the booking and full payment no later than two weeks prior to the event. Full fees will not be refunded if the workshop is cancelled within seven days of the workshop - however if you want to try and shift the event to a later date we can try and sort that for you.

We would be happy to transfer your place to someone you know who wants to take the workshop in your place!

Head to our workshop collection to find a description for each workshop and its content. Please note, we need a minimum of about 6 students in order to move forward with our scheduled workshops. If an occasion arose where we did not get the numbers then we will try to move your booking to another workshop, and if that is not possible we will fully refund you.

Our workshops include all the materials and supplies you'll need unless otherwise stated. However if you would like to bring your own recycled jars for your skincare products we would welcome that.

Please keep in mind that our workshops are all-inclusive: they include all materials and supplies, instruction from Archeus founder Georgina, sips & treats and a fun and magical experience in the Archeus apothecary and gardens. The cost also calculates in the time it takes for Georgina to prepare for the class material, gather supplies, and the actual time spent sharing her knowledge with you during the workshop.
